Our Journey

A living record of learning and service.

Prepared Together is growing one experience at a time, through volunteer work, conversations with neighbors, and lessons from people who have spent their careers helping communities prepare. This page is a small journal of that journey.

Teen CERT, discovering the importance of preparedness

Completing the WANIC Teen Community Emergency Response Team program changed how I think about emergencies and community preparedness.

Before taking the course, I thought emergency response was mainly about firefighters, police officers, and paramedics responding after something happened. Through Teen CERT, I learned that preparedness begins long before an emergency occurs. Planning ahead, communicating with others, and working together as a community can save lives before first responders even arrive.

That experience inspired me to keep learning about emergency preparedness and eventually led me to create Prepared Together, a project dedicated to helping families build confidence through preparation, education, and community partnerships.
